Helping the Children of Esperanza Para Los Ninos

Esperanza Para Los Ninos
Our goal is to raise money to purchase much needed food and supplies for Esperanza Children’s Home

Simon and I have been travelling to Puerto Penasco Mexico for vacations for 5 years now. It is a beautiful place, full of wonderful people. We were fortunate to meet an individual last year who spoke to us about an orphanage approximately 15 miles outside of the resort areas, which we had no idea existed.  On our way home, we saw a lonesome sign for Esperanza Para Los Ninos and decided to take the road in to see what the Orphanage was like.

It is truly an amazing place full of laughter and love. The children and teenagers we met were amazing, and the staff who run the orphanage are outstanding!

Esperanza para los ninos was founded in 1991 by an American missionary. It initially was 1 trailer, 1 person caring for abandoned children but has grown into a refugeand home for so many children and teenagers.  The children who come to Esperanza are victims of abuse, violence, poverty, abandonment, come from violent homes, and/or homes with addiction and neglect.

Esperanza para los ninos relies heavily on donations to meet the needs of all the children they care for and the volunteers that attend to all the children’s needs.

Simon and I are excited to share the story of this orphanage, and hope that in doing so we can secure more funding to bring even more donations with us on our visit July 18th. 100% of this funding will go directly to purchasing supplies for the children and staff.

I received  an email from Guillermo Zapata, the Director of Esperanza para los Ninos, this week with an updated list of children and the orphanage’s current needs. There are currently 20 children who call Esperanza home ranging in age from 4 years old to 21 years old. The needs vary with food as a priority, personal hygiene items, then various cleaning, kitchen and maintenance supplies.

It is our hope that we can raise $500 + from donors to go with the money we have set aside to purchase these much needed supplies and food!  We are hoping to also purchase a gift for each individual child.  We plan to make shopping trips at Sam’s Club, Walmart, Target, and Goodwill.  These children have been through trauma and live in poverty. Through your monetary donations you can help them live, grow and flourish at Esperanza!

Please visit their webpage for more information on the orphanage. There are also a number of videos on you tube, “Esperanza Para Los Ninos” that highlight how amazing this place is!!
