ANZ Bank’s Accessory Making

There is nothing higher-class than craftsmanship, diversity, originality and the service of skilled human hands (from Bryant Mcgill). Last Sunday’s event is about making accessories! Creative juices from ANZ and the kids from Tahanang Walang Hagdan overflowed! Twenty-two employees from ANZ devoted their time to volunteer and discover their artsy side. Twelve kids from Tahanang Walang Hagdan joined this Sunday’s activity.

ANZ Bank’s Accessory MakingAtes and Kuyas from ANZ introduced themselves and acted as Captain Barbel/Darna. The kids enjoyed this introduction from the volunteers! Then the event started by partnering each member from ANZ with one kid from Tahanan. Four groups were made with eight members each. To get to know one another better, three questions were asked: “What is your name?”, “What do you want to be when you grow up? / What is your profession?”, “What is your favorite teleserye?” Everyone was excited to share and because of this, each group was tasked to act their favorite teleserye.

The first group decided to act out “Aldub,” the second group chose “Forevermore,” and the third group picked “On the Wings of Love”, while the last group also acted Aldub. This exercise was very fun and made everyone excited! In the end, the judges chose the second team as the best!

The next game was “Bato bato pick.” Each person was given two rubber bands which will be given to the opponent when a player loses. Kids from each group gave it their all to win this game.

Finally, Ate Weng explained the main event. The core team distributed strings, letters, accessories, and scissors to each group. Everyone was excited to start! Each Ate, Kuya and kid from Tahanan searched for the letters of their names to put on the accessories! Then ate Weng taught everyone how to braid, tie a knot, and finally close the accessory! A lot of different accessories were made like necklace, bracelet, headband and a muscle band!

After eating, the kids from Tahanan stood up and showed their special moves by dancing Nae Nae! But wait there’s more, Kuya’s from ANZ joined these little kids in dancing resulting to fun and unforgettable moment!

Then ANZ gave their special school supplies gifts to the kids of Tahanang Walang Hagdan. Lastly, this event is not complete without a group photo. Everybody was encouraged to give their biggest hug to each other as a sign of thank you for spending time and energy in a fun and enjoyable event like this!
